Helen Spry - Vice-President

Helen SpryBrisbane born, Helen and her husband Neil moved to Caboolture in 1995 looking to raise their children in a country environment.  Blessed with two boys, Jack and William attended the Montessori Children’s House before starting at Caboolture Montessori School.   Helen has operated her garden design consultation business over the last 12 years and has now established an online garden planning business.  Greatly influenced by her great-grandfather and grandfather who were both garden designers in their time, Helen has had the advantage of a lifetime of learning and is passionate about the work that she does.  Her online garden planning site runs an annual

Schools Gardening Grant to support the education of primary aged children in Environmental Studies and Sustainability.  With nearly 20 years of running her own businesses, Helen is experienced in many areas including strategic planning and her decisive, practical nature ensures positive outcomes are achieved.

Regularly volunteering within the Caboolture Montessori School community, Helen has been involved in the development of the school's land since 2006.  She is dedicated to the education of children in food production and was heavily involved in the development of the C.M.S. Community Productive Gardens also offering ongoing support to staff and students so that everyone can benefit from this wonderful outdoor classroom.

Jo-Anne Chaplin - Treasurer

Jo-Anne ChaplinI am a degree qualified accountant & registered tax agent. My Practice 'Tax & Superannuation Professionals' is based in Bribie Island and specialises in tax, accounting and self-managed superannuation services to small business & investors.

My professional career spans many years and a broad range of experience in public practice, small businesses & semi government positions. Having started as a 'ledger machinist' at 15 years old and worked my way through the ranks, studied as a mature age student, I have had the opportunity to see all facets of business activity.

My reason for applying for the position on your board is that I have enjoyed being part of this pro-active group of people as well as the chance to use my skills in a slightly different type of organisation.

Personally, my husband & I love the ocean & fishing, diving & water sports, so Bribie is the perfect place for us to live. My 2 children are now grown up, but we are very close & they form a large part of my life.

Shanan Brandis

Shanan BrandisI hold a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. I was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2003. Following my admission, I practiced predominantly in the area of family law until my husband and I started our family.

In 2011 my husband and I took a leap of faith and started an Electrical Engineering business, Brandis Industries. Initially the business was made up of my husband and I, but has now grown to 30 full time members of staff. We have three children, two of whom already attend Caboolture Montessori School.

I would like to contribute to the collaboration of the School Board, in making Caboolture Montessori School the very best it can be, for the ultimate benefit of the children who attend.

Roelie Hartwig

RoelieHartwig

It seems like just a few years ago, but it is really a few more, Roelie Hartwig, Brisbane born and bred,  gave up a multitude of restaurant choices, cheap good coffee, heavy traffic, big city living in exchange for clear blue skies, RM Williams boots, inland river systems and small town living.

A qualified primary teacher with experience in state and private schooling, she now works in Longreach, and is PA to the CEO (among other duties) of Desert Channels Group, a natural resource management non-profit organisation which looks after about 1/3 of Queensland.

Roelie has taught in schools overseas and in Queensland, including 3 years at Brisbane Montessori School. She was the founder of the Montessori Infants’ Playgroup in a small church in Auchenflower and for a year, ran a Montessori program for the Indigenous teenagers at WadjaWadja High School at Woorabinda.

Roelie has worked closely, in a part time capacity, with the Montessori Australia Foundation, for the past 12 years and currently goes where she is needed, working for the Montessori Children’s Foundation, the Montessori Australia Foundation and the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).

Roelie loves to: get on a plane and go (anywhere); share her unique patch of the outback; and listen to well performed bush poetry, folk music and yarns around a camp fire… oh, and spend a night in the Million Stars Hotel, in a swag.
