25th Anniversary Celebrations
MEDIA RELEASE – CABOOLTURE MONTESSORI SCHOOL
A semi-rural, co-educational Montessori school located in Queensland’s Moreton Bay region, CMS has an exiting line-up of 25th anniversary celebrations to share with its community throughout 2023.
25 years ago, two adults, one vision and eighteen students occupied an old farm house. Their goal was to bring a different way of learning to Caboolture and to offer the community a change from the traditional context of learning and teaching. In 2023, the school has more than 200 students, employs approx. 40 staff and as seen in the media recently, is kicking Naplan goals around Moreton Bay.
The school operates within Queensland’s independent school sector and is located at 200 Old Gympie Road, Caboolture. Students have a plethora of backgrounds with children from Europe, America and Australasia. Locally students come from surrounding areas such as North lakes, Glass House Mountains, D’Aguilar, Bribie Island and of course Caboolture. The staff reflect the same multi-cultural background and the diversity adds much to the richness of the environment. The vision of the parents is that their children are disciplined, motivated, independent, well-educated and ready to face a positive, happy future in the workforce. They desire sustainable educational diversity which is academically ambitious. The Montessori Philosophy fulfils this desire. The local community selects this school as a clear statement of choice and as a distinct, competitive academic and holistic alternative to traditional schooling.
‘We have been working in Caboolture for twenty-five years, quietly confident that the Montessori system of education meets both educational and emotional needs’, says Principal Yvonne Rinaldi.
‘Although we assess our students in multiple ways, the recent Year 5 Naplan results highlight to those unfamiliar with Montessori that you can have both happy, well-grounded children and high academic outcomes
The school welcome toddlers from 15 months and children to the age to 12 years. One of three Montessori Schools in Queensland, and the only non-religious private school in Caboolture, CMS is built on the care that many have shared through 25 years and will continue to grow with future generations. Due to ongoing community demand and support, the school has plans to extend its program to a secondary level and despite obstacles, is forging ahead.
To share in the 25th Anniversary Celebrations, the school has an expansive line-up special events planned throughout 2023, culminating on August 31st (Dr. Maria Montessori Day) when it launches a ‘Hive Mind 2.0’, an art installation created by Brisbane Artist Amelia Kalifa, and the opening of a newly constructed Hardcourt building.
