CMS Events - 2024 Colour Run
One of the most popular CMS Events, the Colour Run for 2024 was held on Friday, June 14th, the last day of Term 2 at CMS. The school community including parents and grandparents, students and Alumni, teachers and staff joined together to celebrate fitness, fun and a fantastic community spirit. There was colour everywhere, however, the event really painted our grounds with joy and laughter while promoting health, well-being and of course most noticeable was the energetic spirit of our convivial CMS community. There were walkers and joggers, sprinters and shufflers, runners and racers, each making their way through a spectrum of vibrant hues across the grounds. Thank you to all who participated in making this a very joyful and unforgettable event in our school calendar.
CMS Events - First Responders' Morning Tea
CMS Events during Term 2, 2024 included a ‘Thank and First Responders’ Morning Tea.
Active, retired and volunteer First Responders, including paramedics, police officers, fire fighters and other emergency personnel from our community were invited to morning-tea so that their hard-work and commitment could be acknowledged and celebrated. The event also provided an important opportunity for our students and staff to express their gratitude and recognise the positive impact their efforts have on ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.
Hosted by Stephen and several of our senior students, and held under the big Moreton Bay Fig-tree, the event was another highlight of Term 2.
CMS Events - Cycle 1 Rejuvenation
We’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on the incredible community spirit that thrives within our small school! ✨ From students to teachers, parents to volunteers, each and every one of you plays an integral role in making our school a vibrant hub of learning and support.
This was never more evident than during our term 1 (2024) Working Bee in Cycle 1. We were delighted to see so many of our community members step-up to lend a helping hand at the event and give this outdoor area a much-needed refresh. This kindness, dedication and enthusiasm truly made a difference!
We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who participated in this event, for their unwavering commitment and passion. Thank you for embodying the spirit of togetherness and creating a warm, welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Thank you for this magnificent manifestation of Montessori!
Let’s continue to foster this incredible sense of community as we work together to make our school an even better place for everyone!
A Christmas Farewell Event
An event which combined as our Christmas assembly and a special farewell event for our beloved Principal Yvonne Rinaldi took place during Term 4. The community came to bid ‘arrivederci’ to Yvonne. After the assembly, there was a get-together in the library with some food and a special cake! The P&F organised Subway for the students and in the afternoon during the Christmas Carols concert, each class (including a special rendition from the staff band) sang/played/danced to Christmas Carols, concluding the day with some very special Christmas cheer. What a big year Caboolture Montessori School has had!
Grandparents' Day Event
One of the most popular events of the year is Grandparents’ Day. On October 27th 2023, CMS held their annual Grandparents’ Day and approximately 250 Nans and Pops along with other family members visited the school for this special celebration. We celebrate this day with joy every year to give acknowledgement to the important role that grandparents (or those in the role of grandparents) play in the lives of their grandchildren. By visiting the school grounds and the classrooms, Grandparents have the opportunity to see what their grandchildren do at school. They can discover what their grandchildren are passionate about and get to know their environment. It is also a day for CMS students to show their grandparents how much they appreciate having them in their lives.
This year, once again we celebrated with the Police Pipes and Drums Band and what a show they put on! The sound of bag-pipes and drum beat, clapping and laughter filled the school grounds. Following the entertainment, Grandparents had the opportunity to visit the classrooms and partake in some activities and some morning tea. They had a chance to read stories, play games and work on projects, arts and crafts and more. Once again this enjoyable day highlights the bond between grandparents and grandchildren and Caboolture Montessori school acknowledges this.
Thank you Grandparents!
25th Anniversary Event

Sports Day Event
On September, 7th CMS held the annual Sports Day. A first for our PE Teacher, Emma Baker, Sports Day has a special way of resonating our school’s unique energy and ‘joie de vie’. Armed with a map and a set of instructions, the teachers and assistants took to the grounds and fielded a medley of athletics, ball games, tug of war and even a Blindfold Obstacle. Under the watchful eye of Emma, where help was needed, there she was! The shrill of the megaphone which forewarned of breaks and changeovers, was in the hands of Italian Teacher Rosie, and the P&F did not disappoint, as a mountain of Sushi arrived for lunch. Thank you to everyone involved.
Candle Ceremony
Each year, our first of the CMS events is The Caboolture Montessori Candle Ceremony. The significance of the School Candle is in the welcoming of a new scholastic year and the acknowledgement of our student leaders as they accept their role of modelling CMS Montessori in front of our community. This year a special 25th anniversary candle was added to the ceremony.
CMS Event - Journey and Discovery
One of the most unique CMS events is Journey and Discovery. This event enables parents to experience their own Montessori ‘journey’ and to co-create their own ‘discoveries’ into the philosophy. The workshops take place over a weekend, with Friday evening and Saturday morning included. It is a ‘must-do’ for anyone new to Montessori.
CMS Event - Harmony Day
The much-loved CMS Multicultural day (now called Harmony Day) took place on 31st March with parents/carers and families from our entire Montessori community attending. Our theme in 2023 was #everyonebelongs. This special event shares a core Montessori message which is Peace. As Montessorians, we not only accept cultural diversity, but embrace it willingly and rejoice particularly to experience a variety of cultures, peacefully, within our school community. The morning brought moments of discovery and learning from many cultures. Many members of our community shared the spirit of the event, dressed-up in your favourite cultural costume and joined in our parade. #everyonebelongs
CMS Graduation 2022
One of the final CMS events for 2022 was held on November 18th, CMS celebrated the graduation of nine senior students. The night was joyful, tasteful and a touching tribute to these students and their families. The students were well prepared and speeches delivered were full of gratitude for their past and current teachers. We’d like to share some photos here:
Music Concert 2022
On Thursday 17th, November, the CMS Music students performed some wonderful musical pieces for their parents during an end of year concert in the library. Under the guidance of teacher Erin Harrington, students performed on Ukulele, Guitar, Voice both individually and in group. Students were presented with certificates on completion.
Well done to all involved!
Grandparents Day
October 28th is Grandparents Day at Caboolture Montessori School. Our school and community acknowledge the vital role that grandparents or those special people standing in as grandparents play in our students’ lives. We see their special bond each time Grandparents visit the school, and it fills us with joy. Grandparents day gives an opportunity for the grandparents in our community to engage with the school, to experience a little of what their grandchildren are learning each day and is a happy social occasion.
Following weeks of creative collaboration, finally on September 12th the Cycle three students and teachers presented their 2022 Arts Gala. The library became the school’s dedicated art gallery where the students’ art work was put on display and parents were invited to browse through the creative masterpieces, discussing the curated works and observing the research and depth of detail involved. Outside, a delighted crowd was treated to performances of drama and song, dance and acrobatics, monologues and mimes. To end the show, some lucky parents were able to take home the beautiful flower arrangements and a cake.
Well done Cycle 3.
CMS Staff Day Out
There are many CMS events held throughout the year, however a special CMS event was held on September 2nd, 2022. It was that long awaited day of the year when our staff are treated to a day of fun outside of the classrooms and office.
Each year it’s a surprise, but this year our Principal had something extra special planned!
After a yummy quick breakfast in the office, staff were scurried away southbound on the Bruce Highway by the beloved Julie from Coast and Country Busses who parked the bus at the Corso, North Lakes. Our group of curious CMS staff was led inside and following a moment of confusion, the surprise was revealed. After weeks of covert planning, CMS pulled-off an amazing collab – bringing together a group of almost 100 Montessorians right here in Moreton Bay. For the first time, staff from both Caboolture Montessori School and from Brisbane Montessori School came together in a social setting to get to know each other. This group with a shared vision and passion for education made for a powerful and memorable experience for all involved, while behind the scenes these two schools are mindful of ever increasing concern over the state of education in Australia. Following morning tea, the participants shared a relaxing meditation session together, facilitated by Emma and Amit from The Australian School of Meditation and Yoga, then a short walk where lunch was served at North Lakes Hotel. Here, staff from these two schools took the time to network and get to know their counterpart in the opposite school, chat about their different but similar situations and listen to each other’s stories. The collaboration rekindled old friendships and created new bonds giving hope and inspiration for the future of education in our region and state.
Montessori needs more of this!
See you soon again Brisbane Montessori School!
Italian Assembly
On 31st August 2022, we remembered Dr. Maria Montessori on her birthday. The students received a special surprise of pikelets, grapes and strawberries – yummy treats in the colour of the Italian flag, delivered to their classrooms.
The Italian celebration was continued the following day, 1st September. The students brought their special performance clothes to school and changed just before the assembly. There was lots of excitement and lots of Italiano!
A bumper crowd of enthusiastic parents came to the school to see the performance and hear the children sing their Italian songs.
All students from Cy 1 (Kindy/Prep); Cycle 2 (Yr 1, 2, 3) and Cycle 3 (Yr 4, 5, 6) learnt songs in Italian. The lyrics to each song told a story which students were able to convey through, dance and movement. Many songs were chosen to represent everyday concepts and suit diverse ages groups. Some of the topics included, animals, music and dance genres, food, folklore tales and birthday celebrations. Students practiced their showcases over a number of weeks leading up to the assembly. The students’ dedication and excitement was second to none and as always delivered a spectacular performance.
The songs included the names of fruit ‘Magiare la Frutta’; they sang about playing in the forest ‘Giochiamo dentro il Bosco’ wondering if a wolf was hiding there! They had fun singing a song called ‘Ill Pulcino Cha Cha Cha’ – where a chick does the Cha Cha dance. Other songs included the names of animals in the jungle, and a special performance called La Banda – about a gang of children in a Boot Camp, and finally the Happy Birthday song, in honour of Dr. Montessori ‘ Tangi Auguri’.
Well done all involved.
Senior Student's Mystery Trip
One of the last CMS events for the year, the CMS seniors visited Seaworld! They had the opportunity to see several sea creatures from stingrays to sharks, dolphins to dance-breaks, jellyfish to jet coasters, polar bears to penguins…so much fun & excitement was had!
